Hello and thank your for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I am afraid most of the human pain killers must not be used in dogs as they can be toxic. You should keep Steve rested, with limited exercise on a leash, no running, jumping or going up or down the stairs. If he continues to limp thought the evening, please take him to your vets tomorrow.
