My dog is limping after his rabies shot. Is this a normal reaction?

  Hi there. It's common for dogs to have some soreness near the injection site after a vaccination, just like human kids - so if he's limping on the leg where he got the injection, this is likely normal. If it doesn't resolve in the next 2-3 days, or if he develops any other symptoms of a problem, then I would recommend taking him to the vet to have it checked.

  Yes, there may be some soreness or swelling at the site of injection. If it lasts more than 24 hours, recheck with your veterinarian. Limit activity as much as you can. Avoid or prevent excessive running, jumping or rough play.

Just like when people get vaccines, dogs can have a little bit of pain and soreness at the injection site, and even feel a little tired after their vaccines. If Yogi develops swelling of his face or trouble breathing, this may be a sign of an allergic reaction to the vaccine, and requires immediate veterinary attention. If you are concerned that Yogi is painful, his vet can prescribe an NSAID to make him feel better. I hope all is well!

  Yes, you can see some swelling in the area where the vaccine was given. I would keep an eye on this area, and if it doesn't go down over the next couple of days or gets larger, I would have Bruno seen by a vet.
