My dog licks my eyes. Could this behavior be a sign of my epilepsy?

Hello, The time right before a seizure is called the "pre-ictal period" and is often associated with a change of behaviors right before the seizure. This period is usually short, about 20 minutes to one hour, but can be longer in some cases. In people, it is often termed an "aura" and is associated with reported changes in sensation- sight, sound, taste, smell, and touch. In dogs, we can't exactly know what they're feeling, but we do often see compulsive or nervous behavior before seizures, telling us they are experiencing a similar pre-ictal period. If he has any swelling, pain, redness, or discharge around his anal area, I would recommend having a vet check to ensure he doesn't have a medical problem that could be causing him to pay attention to the area. Otherwise, I would continue to monitor and record his behavior, as you learning to identify his pre-ictal stage can help you get him into a safe area before he has a seizure. I hope this is helpful! We do not typically see signs like you are describing before seizure activity. Dogs can have an "aura" immediately before a seizure, but it is commonly seconds or minutes before a seizure starts. What you are describing may be unrelated to her seizure. This could be due to an eye injury or conditions such as a corneal laceration, corneal ulcer, conjunctivitis, dry eye (also known as KCS), among many other conditions. This sounds like a form of seizure activity. I recommend taking videos of this behavior and taking him in for an exam and lab work. Seizures can be from many causes and he may need medication to control them. They also can be an indication of underlying medical problems so bring him in soon for an exam and treatment. Hello. While it is very unlikely that your dog will contract any infectious disease by licking the eyes of the blind dog, I would try & discourage this. If you suspect that Daisy had a seizure, I would try and get her examined by a veterinarian sooner rather than later. It is possible that this was not a seizure and was purely a sneezing fit. If Daisy appears to be normal now after the incident, I would monitor her for now and then take her in if the sneezing / seizure like activity recurs. If she continues to have seizure like episodes, I would recommend having a veterinarian examine Daisy so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made.
