My dog is vomiting, inactive, sleepy, and drooling. What should I do?

My dog is vomiting ,inactive and sleepy. Saliva is produced in large amount from the mouth . What can i do .

If your dog is lethargic and vomiting these two things in combination are reason to seek veterinary care, as your dog is likely dehydrated and may need fluid therapy via an IV catheter or subcutaneous fluids. If he has just started vomiting or has only vomited a couple times, you can try fasting him (nothing orally, no food or water) to let his stomach settle and then slowly reintroducing fluids and then a bland diet such as plain cooked white rice and boiled chicken breast. If despite this he continues to vomit, he becomes weak, he has blood in his vomit or stool, or is painful in his abdomen then seek veterinary care. Drooling can be due to nausea, or irritation/inflammation in the mouth, or ingestion of a toxin. If you think a toxin ingestion is possible, seek veterinary care.

Given that Mika got her vaccines two days again, I would suspect that the vomiting is unrelated to that. If she was to experience a mild reaction to the vaccines, it would happen sooner after the vaccines were given. It could be that she has a GI illness or may have eaten something rotten causing the vomiting and lethargy. I can give you a home remedy to try to see if that helps. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If the vomiting continues in the absence of food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away. Poor Lola! This excessive drooling is likely related to nausea. If she received her vaccines yesterday, it can cause some GI upset, and I don't think you need to take her into a vet right away. You can a home remedy first to see if that helps settle her stomach before taking her into the vet. Withhold food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in her normal diet. If she continues to vomit multiple times while withholding food, she vomits the bland diet, develops diarrhea, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, or becomes very lethargic, she will need to see a vet right away.

Vomiting, drooling and inappetence can be observed with conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, gastrointestinal foreign body ingestion and obstruction, among other possibilities. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Peanut evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid she is likely becoming dehydrated. They would be able to check for these possibilities and also check her hydration status and give her medications to make her feel better. Good luck!

As these episodes are very commonly related to dietary indiscretion, I would recommend to withhold food for the next 8-12 hours and then start feeding with a bland diet based on boiled chicken and rice in small portion every 6 hours for the following 48hours. Then gradually reintroduce the normal diet over 5 days. I would definitively recommend a veterinary check up if the signs persist or you notice diarrhoea, more vomiting, more severe lethargy or inappetence.
