Why is my dog calm, low energy, and vomiting after pet sitting?

Poor Kenji! This definitely doesn't seem like normal activity. It is not normal for a dog to vomit often. It could be viral infection, parasites, a GI obstruction, a foreign body, and much more. Since he is sleeping a lot as well, I would have your vet take a look at him. Your vet will be able to try and determine the cause and get him started on some meds to help him feel better. It is difficult to say what this could be, but some dogs are hardy enough that the only symptom they may show of being ill is lethargy. I would certainly recommend having him checked out by a vet to be sure we are not missing a medical issue. They can perform a full physical exam to check for any areas of pain or infection, and may recommend additional blood tests or x-rays depending on what is found on the physical exam. For example, some problems I commonly see after grooming visits are skin or ear infections. If this is detected by the vet, they can recommend medications to help clear the issue. If he physically checks out fine, it is possible this may be a purely behavioural issue, in which case the vet can also provide advice on how to help as well. It can be from a dietary indiscretion, a food sensitivity, a GI infection,  pancreatitis, metabolic and endocrine conditions, foreign bodies in the intestines, and more.   The best thing for vomiting would be to get him seen and try to get to the bottom of the cause.  But he will need an exam and some diagnostics.  In the meantime, you can try a bland diet of boiled chicken and rice for 3-5 days, then slowly change back to her regular diet if doing well. The hair loss can be caused by bacterial infections, allergies, metabolic, or endocrine diseases. Your veterinarian may do some bloodwork to check for those conditions and also some skin testing. Good luck.

It certainly not normal that Chewy vomits or has diarrhea at least once a month. This could be caused by an ongoing health problem such as kidney disease, diabetes, liver disease, or cancer among others. The only way to find a remedy that works is to have the cause of this diagnosed, which needs to be done by a vet. I would have Chewy seen by a vet in the morning for a physical exam, geriatric blood panel, urinalysis, and x-rays. These tests will help the vet identify a possible medical cause behind the vomiting and diarrhea so a remedy can be started for him.
