Why is my dog throwing up, sad, and sleeping a lot after vacation?

Just like humans, pets can vomit for many reasons including parvo, eating something she shouldn't have, parasites, toxins or an intestinal blockage (which can be fatal). because some of these reasons can be very serious and because it has been going on tor 2 days, I recommend to have Kenzie examined first thing tomorrow morning. She needs treatment to fix what ever is causing the vomiting and at this point, she may have some dehydration or electrolyte imbalance issues. Any pet vomiting beyond 48 hours needs to be examined. There are many health problems that could be a potential cause here that will need to be explored with Chewy's veterinarian. I would recommend taking Chewy into see his veterinarian as soon as possible. Bacterial or viral infections, pancreatitis, kidney or liver disease, gastrointestinal obstructions, among other causes are all possibilities. Your veterinarian will do an exam along with testing his stool and running some blood work or taking a few x-rays if needed to help determine a cause. There are lots of things that could cause vomiting and diarrhea in a dog, including dietary intolerance or indiscretion, food allergy, intestinal parasites, GI blockage, gastroenteritis, bacterial or viral infection, IBD, pancreatitis, among others. If it persists for 24 hours or if Oscar seems lethargic, I would recommend having him seen by a vet where you are vacationing.

Your dog could have a severe GI illness, [pancreatitis](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/canine-pancreatitis), a foreign body causing an [obstruction](https://www.petcoach.co/dog/condition/bowel-obstruction-in-dogs), or may have eaten something rotten. I recommend withhold food for 12-24 hours, and then feeding her a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken and white rice in small amounts for several times a day. After a couple of days of the bland diet, you can slowly add back in her normal diet. If she continues to vomit in the absence of food, vomits the bland diet, stops drinking water and vomiting water, has diarrhea, and/or becomes very lethargic, you need to take her into your vet immediately.

Vomiting and inappetence can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. I am concerned that he could be showing signs of an obstruction which is something that requires therapy which sometimes includes surgery. I recommend that you have Jager evaluated by a veterinarian at this point for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. He could have gotten kennel cough while he was boarded, which is not unusual in situations where dogs are kept in fairly close quarters. I recommend getting your dog in to see your vet as he may need a prescription for cough suppressant and/or antibiotics to help him recover more quickly and easily.

It sounds as Milo is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
