Dog vomiting, not eating, and quiet after dog sitter. Is he sick?

Hello and thank you for reaching out to Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. Dogs do not get sick from people, as viruses that cause people to be sick to not affect dogs. It sounds like Ruger may be ill based on the clinical signs you are describing, so I highly recommend contacting your veterinarian and seeing when he/she can have him seen. Your veterinarian may recommend bloodwork or imaging such as x-rays to look for a reason for him to be sick and vomiting. In the meantime, you can offer him a highly digestible, bland diet such as boiled chicken and rice in a ratio of 2 parts rice to 1 part meat. I hope this is helpful!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Logan! I think Logan needs to be examined by a Vet, if he is worse today then take him to an Emergency Vet. If he is the same maybe consider taking him as soon as your Vet opens tomorrow. I worry that he may have a foreign body and may require surgery to have it removed. It is always better to do this sooner than later to prevent complications like bowel resection or perforation of the bowel. Other possible causes are: intestinal parasites, viral or bacterial infections, toxin ingestion, Addison's disease, food allergy/intolerance, pancreatitis. The Vet, after examining Logan, will likely want to take belly X-rays and do blood work. I hope this helps and I wish Logan a speedy recovery!

Vomiting and inappetence can occur from many conditions such as foreign body ingestion and obstruction, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. I am concerned that he could be showing signs of an obstruction which is something that requires therapy which sometimes includes surgery. I recommend that you have Jager evaluated by a veterinarian at this point for further assessment and treatment. This will likely require bloodwork and abdominal imaging in terms of diagnostics. Treatment would be based on findings. At the very least your veterinarian could start him on medications to make him feel better. They may need to take an X-ray to look for an obstruction or test him for parvovirus. I am concerned he is vomiting because he can dehydrate quickly. For this reason, I highly recommend that you have Bambi evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as soon as possible as I am afraid he is likely becoming dehydrated. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bear! He is probably uncomfortable if he keeps getting up and rearranging himself. With the vomiting it makes me think his belly hurts and he is nauseous and that is why he can't rest comfortably or eat. Possible causes of vomiting, not eating and an uncomfortable belly are: pancreatitis, a foreign body that is stuck, inflammation of the stomach or intestines from viral or bacterial infections or from eating something that doesn't agree with him. I recommend that you take Bear to your Vet as soon as you can. Based on their physical exam they may want to do blood work and X-rays of his belly.
