My dog is lethargic, trembling. Vet recommends IV. Should I get second opinion?

This sounds very serious. I recommend an exam with another veterinarian if you are unable to get a diagnosis and effective treatment. Murphy may need hospitalization until his condition improves. You should get your dog to a vet immediately for a thorough examination as there may have been some serious damage done that is not obvious. Hopefully not and it is just the development of some muscle pain etc but at the very least the vet will be able to give some pain relief, alongside peace of mind.

Poor Luna! She may benefit from intravenous fluids. Have you veterinarian check some bloodwork to see if her liver or kidneys were affected. You may also ask your veterinarian if pain medication would be beneficial. Without being able to examine Luna myself, it's difficult to know how best to advise you. If he is getting worse despite treatment he may need to be seen again for more testing to determine the underlying illness so that he gets appropriate treatment. I didn't see where you mentioned what his diagnosis was, and he name if the injectable medicine that he was given didn't come through in your post. Give him at least 24 hrs to see if he improves. However if you ever notice pale gums, continuous heavy panting, unresponsiveness, or unexplained bruising on his body, then he should seek veterinary attention immediately. I know it can be frustrating when the test we run do not always tell us an answer. In the picture her mammary glands are enlarged but this could be due to her being pregnant, having a false pregnancy or even infection in her uterus/ mammary glands. According to her blood work her white blood cells are elevated and she is anemic. I would make sure her uterus is healthy and she does not have any Gastrointestinal parasites. If she truly is 11 months old it is rare for a pyometra (pus filled uterus) to occur but she might of become pregnant/false pregnancy. I would recommend maybe taking her to another vet to get another opinion if she is feeling worse and seems to still be in pain.

Poor Logan. He sounds really sick and i am really worried he is getting dehydrated. There are so so many things that can causing the decrease drinking and lethargy like an infection, kidney or liver disease, a toxin, or even cancer and much more. Since he has been since for three days, I would strongly recommend to have your vet or a local emergency vet take a look at him. They will be able to run bloodwork and X-rays if needed to help determine why he isn’t feeling well. They will be able to get him on the appropriate meds to help him feel better. They will also be able to determine his hydration and give him fluids if needed. I hope this helps and he starts to feel better really soon.

Hi there. While it is not abnormal for Charlie to be lethargic and behave differently when everyone leaves-this is a bit much. I would recommend taking him in to your veterinarian in case something else is going on. Pancreatitis, intoxication, and a few other diseases can start with this presentation. Shivering in dogs is often a pain response (can also be nervousness, cold, etc). If these behaviors continue I recommend taking him in as soon as you can to try to prevent it from getting worse.
