My dog is collapsing, weak, and sick. Should I get a second opinion?

It sounds like Ingmar could have a serious health issue related to heart disease, seizures, or toxin exposure. I strongly recommend you have him examined by a veterinarian right away as some of these issues can be life threatening. Your veterinarian can assess Ingmar for a heart murmur and take X-rays to determine if emergency heart medication is needed. If seizures are suspected, then medication may be needed to prevent them in the future. Blood work should also be done to ensure no organ issues are present. Hi there. It looks like Sancho is pretty sick. Without more information on his clinical signs it is hard to give a full second opinion. I will say that the progressive anemia and the platelets dropping really concern me. In these cases if they are not responding to typical therapy I would want further diagnostics such as a pathology review of the CBC, and possibly abdominal ultrasound. Is there any chance he has been in contact with rodenticide?

Putting Frank down is a permanent decision. Before you do that you may want to consider a second opinion with a veterinary specialist. They may recommend blood work and do X-rays and an ultrasound so they can look at the pancreas and other organs. Also they could do an exploratory surgery to open his abdomen to see if it is cancer or maybe he ate something that has damaged his intestines. If they see what is wrong perhaps they can fix it. Frank is a young dog so having cancer is less likely than an intestinal problem or infection. If they find it can't be treated you can consider euthanasia at that point. I would do the treatment the vet recommends. They wouldn't have recommended it if they didn't think he needed, and he does sound pretty sick to me based on your description. I'd take him back into the vet. Best of luck.

Loss of appetite and weight loss can be observed with many conditions such as gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, kidney disease, pancreatitis, among many other possibilities. He may be so weak that that is why it seems like he is urinating and defecating in his bed and laying on it. I recommend that you have Rooney evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. They would be able to check for these possibilities and others depending on the findings on exam. Hello, I'm sorry to hear that Riley is having this problem. I suggest you take him for a second opinion with a board certified veterinary internal medicine specialist. An MRI is not a bad idea but I think there are other less expensive tests that may be more applicable to run first like more extensive bloodwork to check for endocrine diseases, tick borne diseases, etc. Also, if he only had plain film X-rays, a contrast study might be a good idea. I suggest you ask your vet for a referral to a specialist in your area. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Many things could be going on including intestinal worms, infection, a foreign body, pancreatitis, etc. Your vet can evaluate Kobe and then recommend some tests such as a fecal exam, blood work, and possibly x-rays to determine what is wrong.
