Dog has worms, won't eat, tired after worm pill. What should I do?

It is quite possible that he is nauseous from the medicine or he had a lot of worms which are now dying and that is causing him a tummy ache. Don;t feed him for 12 to 24 hours and then offer him some bland food such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken. Feed him small portions often. When he has regained his appetite he should be fine. There is a possibility that he will get diarrhea as well for a day or two as the body is going to try to get rid of the worms as quickly as possible.

You should not feed your dog food that has worms in it. This would be a sign of decay, which could give your dog food poisoning. Please get fresh food for him (Kibble or canned). I would not eat this contaminated food either. Give him some boiled rice and boiled chicken today instead and observe him if he is still off-color tomorrow, then please take him to a veterinarian for an exam.

In some puppies with a significant burden of roundworms, vomiting and diarrhea can occur as a means of expelling the worms. This also can cause inappetence from nausea and mild lethargy as a result. Although rare, intussusception (essentially intestines that telescope into one another) can occur in cases of parasitism, which can cause vomiting, lethargy and inappetence. At this point, monitor Kai for changes tonight and try to tempt him to eat with boiled white meat chicken and white rice as a bland diet. If he is still lethargic and not eating by the morning, he should be examined by his vet. The greatest likelihood is simply that his body is working to expel the roundworms.

Lelia not eating is a sign that she feels very bad and it's possible that it is related to a reaction from that dewormer although other causes are possible. The big concern is that she is very young and not eating. Puppies do not have the physical reserves of an adult dog. If she has not been eating since Monday then you need to take her in for an exam and medications to soothe her stomach. You don't want her to end up with low blood sugar and need a visit to the emergency clinic! If she will not eat her own puppy food, try warmed white meat chicken and plain white rice. This is not balanced but it will be fine for a few days. If she will not eat that, she is pretty sick. With young puppies, it's best to be cautious as they are fragile. If you can pick up some Hills a/d diet, or Royal Canin recovery from larger pet stores they are canned diets that are a mousse texture and become a liquid when stirred. They are also very flavorful so she might like the taste. You can also cook up some ground beef, but drain off any liquid fat and discard it before you feed her the meat. I do strongly recommend returning to the vet tomorrow to make sure there's not another reason for her to be unwilling to eat.

If Peggy has a large worm burden (lots of worms) then she likely feels sick and doesn't want to eat, and likely won't want to eat until the worms are gone. If the medication that your vet gave is a dewormer (typically a liquid called Panacur/Fenbendazole), then you can give it without food. This might clear out the worms and get Peggy eating again. If the medication is an antibiotic (Metronidazole, Amoxyclav), then this needs to be given with food. You can also talk to your vet about trying an anti-nausea medication to see if this helps with the appetite. If Peggy has abdominal pain, or is vomiting, please have her seen right away as high worm burdens can lead to a very life-threatening condition called intussusception. I suggest you take him off all food for 12 hours and then feed him boiled white rice with boiled white boneless chicken in small quantities over several feeds a day. Do this for 2 days, then slowly transition back to his normal dog food over two or three days. By then the diarrhea should have stopped. Make sure he has plenty of water available at all times.
