What to do if my 5-month-old dog is lethargic and foaming blood?

My 5 month old dog being lethargic won't come out from his dog house barely eats n this morning had foam on his mouth with lil bit of red look like blood financial tight right now been layed off recently but don't want to lose this dog got attached to it what can I do

Well, it sounds like Blake is either sick or could potentially have a wound in his mouth. Anytime there is a dog acting abnormal with foam in the mouth it is important to know if he has been vaccinated for rabies. If not- call your veterinarian immediately. If he has been vaccinated then I would encourage you to look in his mouth with a flash light. Look under the tongue and all through the mouth for a wound. If there is no oral wound then that makes me more concerned that he is sick. In that case I think you may need to try to find a way to have him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible . I can understand being worried. Foaming out of the mouth is never a good sign. The immediate concern I have is rabies. If he's never been vaccinated against rabies, there's a potential he could have it if he came into contact with a rabid animal recently. It could also be that he is nauseous or has a dental problem. Because I can't see him in person to rule out rabies and because I don't know his vaccine status, do not handle him if he's not vaccinated. Call your local animal control for help with him. Why is my dog lethargic, foaming at mouth, and refusing to drink?

There are a couple of things that cause foaming at the mouth. These include upset stomach (nausea), stress, illness, poisoning, exposure to foul-tasting substances, or dental disease. For now, I would monitor Shreder. Try to get him to drink some cool water, as he needs to stay hydrated. If he is still foaming at the mouth in the morning, I would take him into the vet to determine what is the cause of the foaming at the mouth, and how to treat it. If Shreder starts vomiting, becomes extremely lethargic, vomits water, shows difficulty breathing, or begins to have diarrhea, I would take him into your vet right away.

My dog is foaming at the mouth and licking his lips. Is it serious?

No, this isn't normal. Foaming around the mouth can be a sign of nausea, poisoning, difficulty swallowing, poor dental hygiene, and even rabies. If Tucky is vaccinated for rabies, then it is extremely unlikely that would be a cause of the hyper salivation. Licking the lips is also a sign of nausea. I recommend withholding food for 12-24 hours, then feed a bland diet of boiled white meat chicken (no bones) and white rice in small amounts several times a day for a couple of days. Then slowly add back in his normal diet. If he continues to foam at the mouth in the absence of food, on the bland diet, or becomes lethargic he will need to see a vet.

This is an emergency. Lhassie may have a bleeding tumor, a blood parasite infection , a foreign body or a severe infection . Frothing at the mouth is also an alarming sign, (a dog with rabies can froth at the mouth, so I hope she is vaccinated against rabies), which could also point to upper respiratory probems. My dog shook, chattered teeth, and foamed after a long walk. Why?

It may be that he overdid it on the exercise, became overheated, and that caused the foaming of the mouth. If he seems fine now, I'd keep an eye on him at the moment. Should any of these symptoms reappear, then I would take him into the vet. At home, put him in a cool dark room, and make sure he has plenty of cool water to drink. I hope this helps!

My dog's mouth jabbed by stick, drooling, in pain. What to do?

There is most likely a wound in the mouth which is why he is drooling. I highly recommend having him evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Dog bit, can't drink, mouth foaming. When should I call the vet?

Your poor pup! It sounds like he was quite injured from the bite if he is unable to drink water, can only eat slowly, and having some froth in the mouth. I would consider this a medical emergency and he needs to see a vet now. Please take him into one immediately.
