My 1-year-old lab is lethargic. Could it be her first heat cycle?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Female | unspayed | 1 year and 2 months old | 40 lbs

My 1 year old yellow lab is acting strange the last couple days. She's literally just laying around and sleeping. Not eating a whole lot and not playful at all. I'm wondering if she may be having her first cycle

That is possible. If she has any vomiting, is unable to stand/walk, stops eating, develops a vaginal discharge or seems painful it could be something else going on and she should be examined by a veterinarian.
