Why is my female dog not eating during her heat cycle? Is it normal?

Poor girl. Some dogs have a tougher time than others when it comes to their first heat cycle. However she does seem to bra late bloomer as most dogs have their first heat cycle around 6-10 months. If she is this ill I would recommend having her to examined by your vet to make sure she isn't having any complications or other underlying illness that's causing this. If she is found to have a ln abnormally intense heat cycle, then the vet can prescribe some safe pet friendly pain medicaiton for her to get for the next few days until the brunt of her menstrual cycle has passed. In the meantime I try placing a warm compress on her belly for a few minutes (be very careful not to leave on too long or you can easily burn your pets skin) to help ease some of the discomfort. hope she feels better soon!

She may have a uterine or vaginal infection that is making her feel bad or this maybe unrelated to the cycle. a decrease in appetite can be from eating something she should not have or an infection. You can try boiled chicken and rice and if no luck then I would have her seen by a vet since it has been 2 days and I would worry about her getting dehydrated

Yes, this is absolutely normal for an entire male. I would try to keep them separate, but if they are in the same building they will sense each other. The advice would change according to wether you would like to breed from the female dog and you are happy about having puppies or not. That is possible. If she has any vomiting, is unable to stand/walk, stops eating, develops a vaginal discharge or seems painful it could be something else going on and she should be examined by a veterinarian.

If it has been 4 days since he last ate anything, I would recommend getting him examined by a veterinarian and having his blood tested to make sure there are no concerns. I'm sorry to hear that Precious isn't feeling well. It is very common that dogs will have a decreased appetite when it gets too hot for them. And this can last for a little while. Our air conditioning did not work for a day last summer and it took a couple of days for my dogs to get back to normal. So, if Precious is otherwise feeling and acting normally, it may just take her a little more time for her appetite to return to normal. Depending on what food you are feeding and how it is preserved, another problem we can have with dry food that is exposed to high temperatures is that the oils can start to go rancid. I would not expect it to be a problem after only a couple of days, but that is also something to be aware of. I will often have owners buy a new bag of the same food to see if their dog will eat that. That will sometimes tell me if the bag of food is starting to spoil. If Precious develops any other signs such as lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea or her appetite continues to decline, I would recommend having your veterinarian examine her. Good luck! Yes she should be starting her period soon. You know that a pet is having their period because you will see a very swollen vagina and sometimes a decrease in appetite. So this could explain what you are seeing. Look at Hina's genital area to see if it is indeed swollen. A pets period lasts anywhere from 2-4 weeks on average. And the decrease in appetite is normal during the first week of a pets menstrual cycle, but should improve gradually. If the blood is not coming from her genital area and is instead coming from her rectum, then its best to have her seen by your vet for further treatment.
