Are my dog's legs and thighs normal? Should they be symmetrical?

Hello. Yes, they look the same, but to be sure just take a flexable measuring tape & wrap each leg at the same height. This should definitively tell you if muscle mass is the same with both legs & your eye is not being fooled by position or hair. Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. I know you say Boosie's shape shows best in this photo but it is not easy to evaluate him from it due to the angle. Without feeling him myself and just seeing him standing/walking normally it is difficult to say. I does look to me like his stifle (knee) area is thick in this photo but it could just be the way he is laying.... I do think you should take him in for a veterinary exam. If nothing else, he should be due for his 2nd round of vaccines anyway so this is a good time to do the exam. Hope this helps. Best wishes!

HI, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I am not concerned about the white or pale skin color of his scrotum. I think that is a variation of normal. As for the bowing of his front legs, that is likely an angular limb deformity but to tell I would need to see him walk. It is usually from premature closure of one of the growth plates in the leg. If he walks normal it could be a variation of normal. If he isn't limping and can run well I wouldn't worry too much about the legs. Have a good day!

Hi there, and thank you for using Pet Coach. The picture you have posted appears that Bandit’s left hindlimb appears to have some muscle atrophy, Or muscle loss. This could be from a structural defect in the bones, an injury of bone or soft tissue, or even from disuse if painful for many other reasons. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible . X-rays will likely be recommended to help define the diagnosis and create a best treatment plan. Nothing seems abnormal based on this pictures but that does not replace a good exam. If you are worried about confirmation or a bone problem then she needs to see a vet. They can actually move her legs evaluate the joints and bones to make sure there are no problems. If indicated they can even do an X-ray although she is too youn for hip dysplasia to show up

Bruno's leg looks like it is in a normal position to me. Sometimes dogs that have knee pain will sure with their knees falling out to the side and slightly extended, but Bruno's leg does not appear to be in that position. Dogs with hip dysplasia can have an abnormal gait when walking or can hop with both legs together when running. If you're concerned that Bruno isn't walking normally you should have him examined by your vet.
