My dog's leg scab peeled off, now it's pink. Should I see a vet?

If no more scabby areas show up and it doesn't get bigger, I wouldn't worry about it. She may have scratched herself on something. If things change, I recommend an exam by a vet to determine and treat the cause. You can clean it once with mild soap and water but the more you mess with it the longer it will take to heal. This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking. This looks like a scab. He could have gotten this after a little bug bite, a local skin infection, a minor injury from being in the yard, or something else. Since it is so small, I would not be too concerned right now. If it isn't healing, you see discharge, you find more spots, or this spot gets larger, I would have your vet take a look at it to see if he needs any oral meds or other treatment to help it heal. If it doesn't seem to bother him, you could monitor the area for a day or so and see how it changes. If the lesion persists or you notice any redness, swelling, or discharge than he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause. He may need an antibiotic, corticosteroid, or the lesion my need to be removed and biopsied.

I am sorry to hear about Ella! If this area has been present for awhile and is getting worse I would recommend a visit to a vet. In the meantime, you can place an e-collar on Ella to prevent her from licking the area which may allow it to start to heal. You can apply a topical antibiotic ointment to the area and with the e-collar on she won't be able to lick it off. I'd leave it be for now, and have your family monitor it for signs of infection (redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, pus). If there are any signs of infection, have them take Kiko into the vet. Best of luck.

Hello, thank you for your question about Sky. Based on the photo you've attached it is possible that this lesion is secondary to a blood blister or cyst-like lesion. It could also be a mild skin infection. Dogs can develop skin masses/tumors such as mast cell tumors. I would recommend having Sky seen by your veterinarian so that they can examine the area and discuss the need for additional testing such as an impression of the area or collecting a small needle sample.
