My German Shepherd has leg pain, falling, screaming, can't walk.

Hello. I am sorry that Zara is hurting. Sometimes German Shepherds can have something called "Hip Dysplasia" and can have severe arthritis and abnormal hips and this can cause pain and trouble walking. I recommend you have her checked by your vet, who will likely perform x-rays to check her hips. Your vet can also help you get set up with joint supplements as well as pain management for Zara. She could have arthritis in her rear legs, degenerative myelopathy, neck or back problem, etc. She should to be examined by a veterinarian to determine the exact cause. Your vet can do a full orthopedic exam and take x-rays, if needed, to help diagnose and then determine the best way to treat. She may need an anti-inflammatory and or pain medications to help. Poor Violet! She is in pain. There could be several causes including an injury to her back, a calcified disc or a pinched nerve. Since she can’t talk and tell you what is wrong, I recommend to have her examined by the veterinarian today who can also give her medication to make her feel better. This sounds like it may be seizure activity - keep a diary of all events and altered behaviours so you can track any changes and contact your vet for a full health check and blood panel to rule out medical causes such as liver or kidney issues. Video an episode if at all possible to allow better assessment of what is happening

She may have a herniated disc in her back causing the paralysis, or some other neurologic problem affecting her spinal cord. She may be in pain, or she may have no feeling at all in her rear legs - it's impossible to say without an exam. She needs immediate treatment to have a reasonable chance of regaining function in her rear legs, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do at home that will help her. If she is whimpering when trying to do an activity that should be easy for her, she is in pain. Even though you have examined her, you may not have palpated all of the areas that could be causing her pain or discomfort in the same way that a trained vet would do. I would recommend that you have Wendy checked out by a vet to see what is going on. It could be a sprain but it could also be a fracture or an issue elsewhere in her body.

There are many possible reasons but especially in German shepherds, hip dysplasia would be a serious concern, especially if she is reluctant to jump up or stretch. Most muscle injuries would be expected to be improving over 3-4days and xrays would be advisable if not settling
