My dog's leg was hit, she's not moving it or letting me touch it.

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Australian Shepherd | Female | unspayed | 3 months and 27 days old | 24 lbs

I was playing in the garden with Denim. The ball we were playing with rolled to me, and I tried to kick it away, but I made a huge mistake... I tried to kick the ball, but hit her back leg. She started crying and ran about fifteen meters into the house, where she laid herself down on the floor, still crying. She isn't crying anymore, but she isn't moving now... I was unable to fing any injury. She doesn't get agressive when I touch her leg, but she pulls it away. What is wrong and what do I do?

You will need to give it several hours first, then take her for a walk to see if she is limping. if she is using the leg but limping on it, rest her for 2-4 days until it gets better. if she isn't using the leg you will need to take her to the vet ASAP in order to get it checked and treated.
