My dog had kidney failure from anesthesia. Can she recover fast?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | spayed | 4 years and 4 months old | 50 lbs

7 weeks ago my 4 yr old dog was diagnosed with acute kidney failure due to anesthetic the week prior. Yesterday the blood tests were normal. Is it possible for reversal to happen so quickly ?

Those lab tests look great! Yes, in some cases acute renal failure can be completely reversible with IV fluids and supportive care. This usually happens within a few days to a few weeks, so yes - this time frame would certainly fit. I'm very happy to see that things have improved so much for Tahnee! :)
