Why does my dog have a red, itchy rash, swollen legs, and fur loss?

Hi! It looks like Riley may have a skin infection- they commonly occur on the stomach area. Typically they're caused by bacteria or yeast, and can be secondary to allergies, so that would explain the itchiness. I'd take him to your vet, they may want to examine his skin to figure out what kind of infection, and recommend medications for the infection and the itching.

Hello. With all legs looking quite red, I would best guess that Dotty is having an allergic reaction to something in her environment. You can bathe her in cool eater using an oatmeal based shampoo or one containing hydrocortisone or Pramoxine ( both available at most large pet retailers ). Try to soak her for about 10 minutes before rinsing thoroughly. You can bathe her twice weekly if necessary. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing his allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for environmental allergies which require blood and/or skin tests. Allergies can be very frustrating to deal with at first but so rewarding at the end when we are able to treat them effectively!

This coulid have been a bug bite that is still irritating her. She could also be having an allergic reaction to something her skin came in contact with. If she is licking constantly I would recommend taking her in to your vet for allergy medication to stop the itch. If she continues the lick it, the area will become more raw, irritated and possible infected. Best to take her in to have this treated since there are no effective allergy medications available over the counter for itching to this degree. I hope that Skye's skin improves soon. Without seeing it in person, it is impossible for me to say. This could be a bug or spider bite. It could also be a local allergic reaction or an area the Hazel has been chewing causing the swelling. I would give her some beandryl to see if this helps. If it doesn't, I would have your vet take a look to ensure there isn't an infection. This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Sadie regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Bravecto) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or Cytopoint or Apoquel in order to stop the allergy.
