Why is my dog suddenly itching, biting, and rubbing after a walk?

Based on what you are describing I would guess that Charlie may have gotten stung or bitten by something on his face while on the walk. He should be fine and may just have a little focal area of irritation. If you notice any facial swelling he may be having an allergic reaction. This definitely looks like dermatiits. Also it would not have resolved so quickly if it were bites. The dermatitis is likely a hypersensitivity to something in the environment. Unfortunately a lot of dogs are allergic to things like grass, pollen and molds in the grass, which can cause outbreaks of the skin in this manner. There are some options for management of environmental alleriges in dogs that you can discuss with your vet if O's skin has another outbreak. You can also consider getting O a topical product called Duoxo shampoo calm available online to help with his condition. Best wishes with your furry friend moving forward. Take care!

I think that would be uncomfortable for Felix. It could be a contact allergy from his walk. If he is scratching it, it can become infected from continuous scratching. I would take him into the vet to have this treated. Best of luck.

Poor Ivar! These could certainly be from outside like from ants or it could be a bacterial infection secondary to allergies. You could try Benadryl and a medicated bath. I like miconahex shampoo or something similar that has chlorohexidine in it. See link below for Benadryl dosing. If they aren't improving or if they are getting worse, I would have your vet take a look at them to ensure he doesn't need a stronger allergy medicine or oral antibiotics. You’re right that it can be hard to tell if the cuts came first or after the licking started. It’s possible that the skin was irritated (we call it clipper burn) after grooming, and since dogs lick areas that are uncomfortable, it makes the whole situation worse. The best thing to do is to prevent Pepper from licking anymore. He can wear an e-collar/come for a few days. If the skin isn’t looking better 24 hours after wearing the cone, it may need medications so Pepper should get checked out by his vet.

Skin issues like you are describing can have a variety of causes, including skin parasites (fleas or mites), allergies, an infection, or an underlying medical issue (Cushings disease, diabetes). I would recommend he be evaluated by his regular veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his skin lesions, have any necessary testing done (bloodwork, skin scrape, culture) and start on any treatment that he may need. Poor Cody! It sounds like he has a bad case of allergies. He could have fleas or allergic to something outside. He may also have mange, secondary yeast or bacterial infection. You could try to give him benadryl twice a day, start giving him calming baths using an anti-itch shampoo like duoxo calming shampoo, and start him on an omega 3 fatty acid to see if there is any improvement. I would also get him on a high quality flea preventative like comfortis, bravecto, or nexgard. See both links below for more info. If he isn't improving or if the area on his booty continues to bleed, I would have your vet look at him. Your vet will be able to determine the cause and get him started on the proper meds to help him feel better. They will also be able to start him on a strong allergy medicine like apoquel, cytopoint, or steroids.
