My dog bled internally after neuter. Slipped ligature or negligence?

Unfortunately i cannot see the picture of it, which would be ideal to give you a specific answer, but I can guess that is a small herniation of muscle/subcutaneous tissue coming through surgical incision (which i guess is healed now) or the result of a chronic inflammation (possibly due to licking the area). There should never be blood in stools, so it is certainly abnormal. Some medications could cause bleeding in the GI tract, so I would stop any medications and call the vet for advice. He should be examined by a vet or emergency vet if additional symptoms develop, such as lethargy, poor appetite, or vomiting.

Check the incision whether a stitch came out or whether it opened. If not, then all is well . You need to keep your dog from licking the incision. Licking prevents the incision from healing. If the incision keeps bleeding or if the incision looks open, you need to go back to your vet to have it closed again.

It would not be typical to see bleeding from the penis following a neuter surgery. I would actually worry that Henry might have a wound on his penis or even a urethral prolapse. If you see any more blood I would recommend seeing an emergency veterinarian. Either of these problems could get worse if not treated promptly.

If it is only dripping a few drops of blood and your dog does not show any other symptoms, i would not worry about it, it can happen and it can last 3-4 days max. the blood tends to gather in the empty testicular sac and this is why it tends to bleed for several days.
