It depends how acute is his condition, generally speaking i would say no as eye problems as such should be seen as "emergency" appointments with ophthalmologists, i'm sure if you request to talk with the ophthalmologist on the phone and explain the situation he will tell you to come the same day.

My last visit to my dog's ophthalmologist was quite a bit less than surgery would be to remove his eye, so before making any rash decisions, I would find out the cost of seeing the ophthalmologist. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to determine if a mass in the anterior chamber is an iris cyst (which is benign) or a melanoma, but one trick is that an iris cyst may move in the eye. That is an unusual location for a mass. Good for your for being persistent in figuring out what it is. I would recommend consulting with a veterinary ophthalmologist to decide if it should be surgically removed. There is no way of knowing for sure without an examination though this represents a reason to seek veterinary care. This is usually determined with an examination and a fine needle aspirate (FNA) or a biopsy. Treatment depends on the findings up to that point. This kind of lump/growth needs to be ideally assessed by your veterinarian to have a definitive and specific answer. I would suggest to have it checked as it can rub against cornea and create discomfort and possibly corneal damage in the long run. Usually there are two ways your vet can do that a part from examining it directly during physical examination. A biopsy can be taken under local or general anesthetic, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle can be aspirated (this technique is called FNA= fine needle aspiration). Differentials include skin cysts, infections, inflammation of the eyelid glands, benign or more sinister type of tumors. If just inflammatory, a medical treatment can be attempted to reduce its size. Hello, It is difficult to tell from pictures exactly what is going on but Calvin’s right eye does not appear normal. He may have an ulcer and/or elevated pressure in the eye. Also, I cannot determine if he has pigment on the cornea or an abnormality of his iris. Either way you need to follow up with a veterinarian or veterinarian ophthalmologist as soon as possible.
