Can I give my dog hydrocodone for pain if she's already on Rimadyl?

You should not give your dog hydrocodone unless it was prescribed by your vet, it is a very strong and dangerous medication and it can only be given under very specific circumstances. Tylenol should never be given to a dog. in most cases for severe pain your vet will prescribe a combination of Rymadil or Metacam with Tramadol, these are all prescription meds as well which you can only get through your vet.

No, please do not give hydrocodone to Prince, it is not safe to do. If his ear is hurting, that may be because he has an ear infection. I would have Prince seen by a vet first thing in the morning. The vet can confirm that he does have an ear infection, and can give him safe and appropriate medications to treat it. Please do not try to treat it yourself, you may accidentally do harm to him and permanently damage his hearing by doing so.

Please do not give ibuprofen. It can be toxic to dogs and with your cute girl being small I am very concerned about an overdose. Your veterinarian should refill the rimadyl or there are also several generic equivalents than may be less expensive. Hi. Unless the pain medication was prescribed for her, do not give her anything, the human medications or over the counter medications aren't always safe and don't have same doses for dogs then people. If her pain level is that bad, I'd go to ER to get pain meds

Legally, a pet must be physically examined by a vet before any treatment can be prescribed or recommended. Rimadyl can be used for any muscular or joint inflammation or pain, so it is probably the right choice for Westley. If you get in touch with your local vets, they should be able to advise about the dose for Westley. You will also find Rimadyl dosage on the leaflet, that should be provided with the tablets that were prescribed for Winston.

The codeine could definitely be the culprit. Sedation is one of the main side effects. I would recommend calling your vet to discuss a lower dose, especially if her pain is well controlled. There are also many other medications that could be used instead to see if she tolerates a different medication better. If so, this medication should NEVER be given more frequently than directed by your veterinarian, since overdoses can cause serious damage to the stomach and kidneys. I would recommend calling your veterinarian tomorrow morning to see what they suggest - they may ask you to skip Evie's next scheduled dose. You will also need to monitor her for any signs of a problem such as vomiting or not wanting to eat, and take her in right away to be seen if any problems are noted.
