My dog is limping and won't put weight on leg. Can I give pain meds?

Updated on September 23rd, 2025

My dog just started favoring her right rear leg. She won’t try to stand on it. I poked all around and she didn’t react with pain. Can I give pain med? I’ll take her to vet at 7AM

Hi. Unless the pain medication was prescribed for her, do not give her anything, the human medications or over the counter medications aren't always safe and don't have same doses for dogs then people. If her pain level is that bad, I'd go to ER to get pain meds
