My dog hit her head hard. What symptoms should I watch for and when to see a vet?

He will probably be OK, however I would closely observe him for the next 24 hrs for signs of unusual behaviors, lethargy, or vomiting. If any of this occurs, Jax needs to be taken to a veterinarian or emergency room right away to assess him for more serious complications.

Monitor for any vomiting or trouble walking or a head tilt. If you notice any eye movements jumping back and forth or a head tilt, that is a sign of head trauma. If you notice no signs after 12 -24 hours then you have nothing to worry about

Keep an eye on her mentation (is she acting normally, responding normally, she doesn't seem "depressed" or "dull"), the way she's walking (is she bumping into walls, does she have a wobbly or drunken appearing gait), and her desire and ability to eat and drink. Poor Bruno! I am sure it hurt when he hit his head. Monitor him for any abnormal signs and have your vet take a look at him if you notice anything concerning, like disorientation, unsteadiness, unequal or dilated pupils, nausea, etc. If he just hit his head while turning around there probably wasn't enough force to cause any major damage.

Dogs have pretty hard heads, but keep an eye out for unconsciousness, disorientation, bleeding from the nose and eyes, pupils of unequal sizes, and seizures. If he's acting normally, it's unlikely you will see any of these signs, but if you do, have him seen by a vet immediately. I hope this helps!

Poor Meadow. I would not be concerned as long as meadow is eating,drinking and acting normally. However, if she seems disoriented, sleepy or having any neurologic signs like seizures I would recommend taking her to the vet as soon as possible for a good physical exam and possible medications. i hope that helps
