Why is my puppy in heat vomiting yellow liquid and not eating?

  Hi there! Sorry to hear that Phoebe is not feeling well. The clinical signs you describe are concerning when they occur in a puppy as they can be seen with serious gastrointestinal infections such as Parvovirus. Other possibilities include intestinal worms and dietary indiscretion, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Phoebe evaluated by your veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. At the very least they can address dehydration if present and start her on anti-nausea medications. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for your girl!

  If your pup threw up just one time, I would keep an eye on her and see how she does. If she is lethargic, won't eat or has diarrhea, you need to see your vet. Yellow vomit is often bile and can be from an upset stomach, or from not eating for too long. Sometimes a small snack before bed- a handful of kibble or few biscuits- can help to prevent that from happening. Dogs can get a bit of acid reflux type of thing that a little food to work on helps prevent.

  Poor Girl! I would try to rest her tummy - no food and only small amounts of water for a few hours. I would then offer her a small amount of plain boiled boneless, skinless chicken breast and white rice to see if she can keep this down. If she continues to vomit or if she is refusing to eat, I would have your vet take a look at her. Your vet make want to do a fecal, blood work, and/or x-rays.
