My dog's in heat, not eating. Is it safe to give her dewormer?

A decrease in appetite is a general sign of illness. If Deke is being treated for heartworm and is showing new signs of illness, it would be best to let your vet know so they can examine him and make sure there aren't any complications from the medication or his treatment that need to be addressed. A complete exam is also a good idea to rule out any other health issues that may be causing it.

I would check with your vet first to make sure it does not interfere with any other medications Kyah is on if she is still on a treatment for another stomach issue. If you don't know what type of worms Kyah has, you can bring a sample of her stool to your vet for testing so they can provide you with the correct deworming medication. If she is still having diarrhea even after a course of stomach medications, a recheck with your vet to rule out any other health issues such as food allergies, illnesses, GI problems, etc is also a good idea in addition.

Just like humans, there are many many causes of vomiting and some of the causes can be very serious. It could be related to the worming pill. If Alexa continue vomiting beyond 24 hours, she should be examined by the veterinarian. Poor girl. Some dogs have a tougher time than others when it comes to their first heat cycle. However she does seem to bra late bloomer as most dogs have their first heat cycle around 6-10 months. If she is this ill I would recommend having her to examined by your vet to make sure she isn't having any complications or other underlying illness that's causing this. If she is found to have a ln abnormally intense heat cycle, then the vet can prescribe some safe pet friendly pain medicaiton for her to get for the next few days until the brunt of her menstrual cycle has passed. In the meantime I try placing a warm compress on her belly for a few minutes (be very careful not to leave on too long or you can easily burn your pets skin) to help ease some of the discomfort. hope she feels better soon!

Yes that could be completely normal, especially during heat period. As differential can be many, the approach must be logic, starting from offering different kind of food. A check up is needed if inappetence is complete and last for more than 24hours. These are not normal symptoms associated with being in heat, so I would be concerned about some other illness. If she hasn't eaten in several days and is still vomiting, I would recommend taking her to the emergency vet. She is likely very dehydrated at this point, and we need to figure out what is causing the nausea.

I my opinion you should go to a pet shop and get some puppy wormer and worm your puppy. If you have no access to buying a wormer, have your vet worm your puppy on Tuesday and then again 2 - 3 weeks later.
