My dog's head veins bulging a week after possum attack. Infected?

I am sorry Gotti has been having problems. If Gotti had a corneal ulcer it can be normal to see blood vessels on the cornea to help heal the trauma. However blood on the iris or inside the eye is not normal. This usually is not due to bacterial injections but can happen secondary to fungal disease , toxin and systemic illness. I would recommend taking Gotti to a opthomologist to help determine why the eye is starting to develop blood in abnormal places. I hope that helps

It certainly sounds like this enlarged area on Bentley is infection, and I would be concerned that he has an abscess. I do not recommend popping it again yourself, as that introduces more infection into the area. He needs to see a vet for this, as he needs the area drained and cleaned sterilely, and he will need antibiotics to treat the infection. Please bring him into a vet tomorrow.

The main problem with bite wounds is that you have to let the wounds declare themselves before knowing exactly what is going to happen at the end. It sounds like Zara's wound got infected and has now formed an abscess. She can develop a fever from this and this can make her feel quite sick. Also, it would be ideal to know the true extent of her injuries. For this reason, I recommend that you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Your veterinarian would be able to prescribe medications for pain control and also antibiotics to treat her infection which is the only way it can resolve. Good luck! Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. If the sores are getting bigger I would recommend having Gotti seem by a veterinarian. It appears that he may have a skin infection. Keep the lesions clean and dry until then, but he may need some antibiotics. You can use a mild antiseptic shampoo to clean the lesions but be sure to rinse well.

It looks like there is accumulation of fluid (the cranial swelling) and inflammation of the surgical site. the rest of the wound looks like it is healing. a check up and physical examination it is essential in her case to rule out any accumulation of fluid (which could be even pus).

Poor Brooklyn. I'd be concerned about infection. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and she will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it. I hope this helps!

Poor Tate! I would try to get him examined today if possible. Without an exam, it's impossible to know if the swelling is related to a broken blood vessel or if it is related to infection. You may try to find another vet who has availability today. If it's an infection, starting Tate on antibiotics would be beneficial. Best of luck.
