Why is my dog's head bald spot bleeding and getting bigger?

This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any). Based on the photo, I would recommend having a veterinarian take a look at this to rule out the various possible causes. This could be a bacterial infection, fungal infection such as ringworm, etc. The veterinarian will be able to perform some additional testing and have a better look at it so that the most appropriate treatment can be recommended. This looks like an area that was scraped and now has a secondary bacterial infection. Please clean the area with a warm wet cloth and once rinsed and dried apply a thin film of antibacterial ointment on it. By washing it you should remove the dried up crusty skin. It may look more irritated but having it clean and open to the air it should heal more quickly. The rest of the skin looks fine. It may take several weeks or more to have the fur fill in. Poor Xena. It could be from an injury. I would clean it with warm water and antiseptic soap. Keep the wound clean and dry, and monitor it for signs of infection. If you see redness, swelling, warmth to the touch, or pus, then it is infected and she will need to see the vet for antibiotics to treat it.

Hello. Any chronic lesion should be investigated by your veterinarian. This looks like some kind of abscess or perhaps even a foreign body under the skin. He is a bit young for a cancer, but young dogs can get benign growths. In the meantime, gently clean the area with an antibacterial skin wash such as Hibiclens ( available at any pharmacy ), but if it does not dry up soon, I would like you to have Cammo examined by your veterinarian. I recommend you have her evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as this will likely require local therapy with cleaning of the site, pain control medications and antibiotics. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. If the sores are getting bigger I would recommend having Gotti seem by a veterinarian. It appears that he may have a skin infection. Keep the lesions clean and dry until then, but he may need some antibiotics. You can use a mild antiseptic shampoo to clean the lesions but be sure to rinse well.
