My dog has a hard, non-painful lump on her snout. Is it cancer?

It looks like this lump could simply be a benign tumor, but that's impossible to say without seeing the dog in person. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. This could be a cyst from an impacted hair follicle from when she was rubbing her nose in daycare. I would monitor this for the next 2-3 weeks and if it does not resolve, I would have a veterinarian examine it so that the most appropriate diagnostic and treatment recommendations can be made. Certainly if it worsens during the next 2-3 weeks I would have this seen sooner. I hope this helps! A small area like this could be inflammation as a result of an insect bite or wound, inflammation as a result of bacterial infection (though usually we would see more then just one lump) or a growth/tumor of the skin (we can have benign growths that don't cause any health concerns or growths that are malignant and require removal). Unfortunately without an exam and a sample (taken with a needle most often ) we can't tell you for certain the cause. If it isn't bothering your dog I would continue to monitor it daily. It is from an insect bite or wound it should resolve over the next couple weeks. If it is still there in a month or is increasing in size or changing appearance then a vet visit to investigate the area further is warranted.

It could be a tooth root abscess or a tumor in her maxilla (upper jaw bone) or in her nasal cavity. I recommend taking her to the Vet for an exam. Yes, it looks like it is most likely trauma related to pushing the blanket thought the holes in the crate. You can certainly ice the bump for about 10 minutes 2-3 times per day and it will likely resolve on it's own. As always, if you are worried, there is no harm in taking him in to your vet for a check-up. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

This appears to either be a blister or a small mass. You can try placing a cold compress on the area for 5 minutes if tolerated twice daily. I would not recommend topical Neosporin becuase of the location and the likelihood that it will just be licked off. Monitor the area for the next 7-10 days. If it is a blister it wil slowly go down on its own. If it does not, then it is a skin mass and the next steps would be to have it tested through your vet. It is hard to tell from the photo the characteristics of this bump. I would say it is possible it is related to trauma and I would monitor for now but it could also be a tumor (either benign or malignant). My recommendation would be to monitor it for the next 24 to 48 hours, and if it is still there in the same size or it is bigger I would have a veterinarian examin the area. Further testing might need to be considered such as taking a sample of the mass and sending it out for interpretation at the laboratory. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction.
