What does normal gum healing look like after dog dental surgery?

That is completely normal. Inappetence and mild to moderate bleeding has to be expected after this extraction (which is certainly a major one). If the signs persist 36hours after surgery a check up is needed, otherwise I would not be extremely worried about it. This may be an indication of oral pain from the extraction. I would recommend speaking with the veterinarian about pain management and add on additional pain medications. The suture used to close the extraction site may be causing some irritation as well. I would maybe have the veterinarian take a look at the mouth to be on the safe side. I hope this helps!

This does indeed look uncomfortable! Pictures can be deceiving but it appears there is significant loss of bone and gum tissue above the affected teeth, with tartar and infection build up. Referral to a specialist dentist for xrays to fully assess what is going on under the gum may provide more information but it is likely that extraction of 2 or 3 teeth and repair of the gum over this area will be required in order to eliminate the infection and prevent pain

Hello! This looks like gingival hyperplasia and it can be due to inflammation under the gums. When you use a scraper on the tooth you are not getting under the gumline so there is still bacteria under there which is causing inflammation. I would not be overly worried about it at this stage. It is not that harmful but go easy with the scraping and only use that once every month or two. Oh my. At this age your pet shouldn't have too much dental disease to cause bleeding gums. This is definitely not normal and I worry that Abdul may either have a bleeding disorder (which can only be diagnosed and treated through your vet) or there may be multiple cuts in the mouth from something sharp your pet recently chewed on. I would highly recommend taking Abdul in to your vet to have them examine the mouth asap since a bleeding disorder is a possibility here. If there are cuts in the mouth that is causing this, then an oral rinse and oral pet friendly anti-inflammatory medicaiton will likely be prescribed. It is not possible to know the full extent of this just based on pictures though this does look like significant gingivitis and dental disease. Sometimes this is due to pure inflammation secondary to dental disease and sometimes there may be an infection. What I see in the picture is a change in color where the gums meet the hair line. This is something I see just as cats age. Sometimes in orange cats the skin will become black in pigmentation. Other times you will see a blue color. I would just continue to monitor it for now. If it gets bigger to you can take Schmidt to the vet for a quick check but I do not think it was related to the dental
