Can my dog get parvo a second time after surviving the virus?

  When a dog survives parvovirus they make a huge amount of antibodies, so the likelihood of them developing the disease again is highly unlikely, unless they have an abnormal immune system. However, many dogs with parvovirus also have concurrent intestinal parasite infestations and can develop a secondary problem called intussusception which can be a life threatening intestinal issue. If your puppy is displaying any vomiting or diarrhea or low appetite then I would highly encourage you to have Spark evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible.   It is in the same family as chicken pox for people, so once you get and build an immune response, you cannot get it again. The only catch to this is if the disease was not very aggressive and they were not very sick, then they may not have built an immune response. Despite these, the vaccine does protect against different diseases and should be continued on a normal schedule
