Why is my dog gassy with loose stools after taking glucosamine?

If the supplement is new then yes, it can cause some diarrhea. I would suggest lowering the dose and switching her to a bland diet. You can try to slowly increase the supplement. If her diarrhea continues try switching brands or contact your veterinarian.

Poor guy. Steroids can cause abnormal stools, so this is likely the culprit. Also his body is stressed, so loose stool is commonly seen. You can try giving him a bland diet of boiled plain chicken and rice or cottage cheese for a few days, then slowly transition him back to his normal diet once his stools do return to normal. 1-2 tsp of canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) can also be added to his food daily to help solidify his stools. If he still has loose stools after 48 hrs, then a repeat vet visit is likely needed to get him on something stronger. You should continue to give the Benadryl as instructed by your vet. This could be due to a number of things, most like;y him eating something that disagreed with him, something too rich that he isn't used to eating. If you changed his dog food recently or introduced wet food to his diet this could be what started it. Other possibilities include parasites, food allergies, or bacterial infection. Try feeding him a bland diet for a few days, plain cooked white rice mixed with an equal part of plain boiled chicken breast, unseasoned, or plain hamburger, cooked and the fat rinsed off. If the symptoms persist or get worse, including developing new symptoms like diarrhea, lethargy and loss of appetite, get him seen by your vet as soon as possible for an exam and fecal analysis.

It could be that Oz had severe gastric upset. When dogs have an upset stomach it can cause severe gas and even diarrhea. I would continue feeding the bland diet and start an over the counter probiotic. However if it gets worse or does not continue to improve I would recommend taking Oz to a vet for a good exam and medications to help resolve the upset stomach.. hope that helps

Having grains in a diet is not a reason to suspect diarrhea or loose stools so I would think that the loose stools are due to something else. This can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. If this continues, I recommend that you have Chloe evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Yes, it could be from the antler. I suggest you take it away from him so he can't chew it anymore. The loose stool should resolve on it's own with no treatment but if you would like to start him on a probiotic you can do that. One made for dogs, not people. You can buy them at any large petstore like Petco. The mucus is not that concerning at this stage. If the loose stool and/or mucus lasts longer than 3 days then he should see a vet.

Based on your description, Wade may have a condition called colitis. This is an inflammation in the large intestine most often caused by a change in diet, eating something they are not used to or a stressful event. It can be secondary to many other things. It often results in diarrhea/loose stools and straining to defecate. If he's acting normal otherwise, you can start by withholding food for 12-24 hours, then introducing a bland diet of plain boiled chicken and white rice. You can also add some canned pumpkin puree as the fiber can help to firm up the stools. As long as the stools normalize, you can then start mixing in his regular dog food. If the diarrhea continues despite these things, I would recommend taking him to a veterinarian for an exam. They will most likely recommend a fecal exam to look for parasites and sometimes when colitis doesn't resolve on it's own, they are treated with an antibiotic.
