A garter snake Bite is not likely to be dangerously toxic to your dog, some swelling will probably occur and if the swelling is too severe you should definitely take him to the vet to get treatment, but he should be fine otherwise.

A garter snake is not venomous, there fore not going to envenomate .your dog. However, you do not know where those snaketeeth were (in a mouse or other prey) and reptiles have a nasty colony of bacteria in their mouth. So if the snake drew blood you need to observe the wound and at the slightest swelling see a vet who then needs to prescribe antibiotics.
