My dog got bit on the nose. Is swelling normal, even without venom?

I highly recommend that you have Cop evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Is this the location where the envenomation occurred? There could still be residual swelling and gravity is taking it to the lowest place. Otherwise the skin could be becoming necrotic from the bite. I would recommend a follow up appointment with your veterinarian just to make sure that nothing serious is happening. I’m so glad he made it through that crisis! What a scare!

If the swelling or discharge return, I would definitely recommend a vet visit. If it was just something that came today and lasted for a short time, it could be an insect bite, a small trauma, or something similarly transient.

I see what you mean about Jasper's swelling! It could be from an insect's sting, but it could also be a contact allergy. If you won't let you put ice on it, I wouldn't keep trying it. Keep an eye on it tonight, and if the swelling is still present in the morning or keeps worse, take him into a vet for treatment.

The swelling is most likely an allergic reaction, usually from an insect bite or sting but it could be related to pollen or plant allergy. If it is not bothering Peanut at all, just monitor him at home and the swelling should disappear in less than 24hrs. If it becomes itchy and your dog stars to have fast and noisy respiration, you should take him to your local vets for an appointment.

Poor Punky! If her nose is swelling you could put an ice pack on it and see if that helps. You should have your vet take a look at it to determine if treatment is needed. She may need an antibiotic to prevent infection and an anti-inflammatory to help with pain and swellimg.

A swollen muzzle is most commonly due to an allergic reaction, often to an insect bite or bee sting. It could also be from an infection near her muzzle. If she's otherwise acting completely normal you can monitor her; an allergic reaction should get gradually better and usually resolves in 24 hours or sooner. An infection would not improve without antibiotics, so if the swelling continues or if any other symptoms appear she should be seen by a vet. Hope this helps!
