My dog's Alpo food has stringy cobweb stuff. What is it? Safe?

Hello. It looks like something or someone vomited up a combination of emesis & something very fibrous. It is probably indigestible , hence the reason it was vomited up in the first place. Without touching it myself and opening it I can only speculate: Chicken skin/cartilage, parasite, rubber foreign material. I would put it in a baggie and see if your Vet can identify it in person. Consider bringing a stool sample as well to check for gastro-intestinal parasites. If your dog continues to vomit, is lethargic or stops eating I would have him/her seen right away in case there is more of this material that is causing stomach irritation or an obstruction. It's impossible to know if it's a coincidence or not. I'd recommend just getting a new bag and calling the company to let them know. Their number will be on the bag and they should offer a refund and get the information from you about lot number, production date, etc on the bag so they can keep track of any issues in their system. Hold off on food for the rest of the night (water is fine), and go ahead and offer half a breakfast in the morning. If he doesn't keep that down, I'd recommend a vet visit for a check up and likely some mild supportive care before Otis ever gets really ill.

Grain mites should not cause serious illnesses if eaten, but some pets might have an allergic reaction to them that could include itching, and intestinal and skin problems; possible but not likely to happen. Just throw the treats away and follow the guidelines below to help prevent this from happening again. * Store pet foods in airtight containers. * Don't store food in garages, sheds or basements. * Immediately throw bags away outside after the food has been put into a container. * Don't buy or use old or outdated food. * Wash food dishes frequently in hot water and dry thoroughly. * Buy only 30 days worth of food at a time. * Don't purchase food in bags with holes or tears. * Avoid low quality food with a lot of debris in the bottom of the bag (ALPO would be one of the lower quality foods). Its hard to say what those white dots are. Purchase another package and see if they have the dots too. Maybe it is normal. You may also call the company and speak with a representative. Hi there. It looks like Bandit had either some mucous or worms stuck to his feces when he pooped. I can't quite tell from your photo, but in either case I would recommend taking the sample to your veterinarian because Bandit will need either a dewormer or some GI medications. I hope that helps.
