My puppy has a fever, vomiting, and vet is closed. What should I do?

Oh my. Poor guy. If he has a fever this can be caused by a bacterial or viral infection (i.e. Parvovirus if he isn't fully vaccinated). I would have him tested for parvovirus first and if that comes up negative he needs full panel bloodwork and a urinalysis. to fully evaluate him. He should be on antibiotics and fluid therapy to help bring down his fever. He also needs anti-vomit medication to prevent him from becoming dehydrated due to excessive vomiting. If his condition has not improved within 24-48 hrs, then you should consider having him hospitalized so that he can get around the clock care and treatment. Poor guy. I do hope that your pup Shadow is able to make a full and speedy recovery from his illness. For tonight you can try feeding him some slghly warmed up cans of baby food (meat and vegetables or squash) to try to entice him to eat. Unfortunately, those are all general signs of illness that can point to any number of things, so seeing a vet is the answer for you, and it would be best to bring Cookie to one ASAP. Illnesses, infections, parasites, etc can all cause lethargy, fever, illnesses, etc, so an exam is important in figuring out what is causing the problem so it can be treated appropriately. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bon Chon! Have you taken his temperature rectally or does he just feel warm? Anything over 103 F is a fever rectally in a dog. Since he isn't holding water and food down now he needs to see a Veterinarian. He is too young and will dehydrate quickly. Causes of vomiting in puppies are: intestinal parasites, viral (especially parvo virus if not vaccinated) and bacterial infections, ate something gross outside, ate something causing a blockage, food allergy/intolerance, reaction to a new food/treat or people food. It sounds as Charlotte is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. i would recommend taking her to the vet the first chance you get, she will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection she will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.
