Dog feverish and sluggish after shots. Is it normal or an emergency?

If he is still running a fever after all of this, I would get him seen by an emergency veterinarian to be safe. He may need something stronger such as a steroid to help with a potential reaction. There may be something else going on such as an infection as well. I would get him seen as soon as possible. I hope this helps!

Puppy's getting sleepy after their shots is a normal reaction to vaccinations. They can also have a low grade fever and/or one bout of vomiting/diarrhea normally that are no cause for concern. The concern arises when your pet is severely lethargic, not eating, non-responsive, pale gums, or excessive vomiting/diarrhea. If you notice any of these symptoms then it is best to take puppy to a vet asap for immediate care, because a mores serious vaccine reaction is occurring at that point.

It is not normal as most dogs do not have vaccine reactions. Is this a way that vaccine reactions could manifest? Not usually but it can be. You are doing everything right by keeping in contact with the vet and getting treatment recommendations. Just keep her calm and quiet tonight and see how she is tomorrow. If not better, I would take her back to the vet for an exam. I strongly suggest you NOT give any more aspirin. If that one dose is not helping more will not be better. Hope this helps.

I'm so sorry that Buddy isn't feeling well after his vaccinations. I would certainly recommend calling your vet to discuss his side effects and decide if he needs to be seen or not. When we give a vaccination, the stimulation of the immune system can cause an inflammatory process that can result in some joint or muscle soreness. Some dogs will also be lethargic and can run a fever. These side effects will generally resolve within 1-2 days, but sometimes we will recommend giving medications to make the pets feel better in the meantime, so I would recommend discussing it with your vet. For the future, I generally will only give one vaccination at a time to dogs that have the potential to have vaccine reactions to minimize the potential for this to happen again. Good luck! If it has been longer than this, it is likely unrelated to the vaccines that a good reason to have Saski evaluated by your veterinarian to ensure that there is not something else going on. Good luck! Hi. It is normal to be lying around after vaccines. He may bring sore and lethargic. I'm not sure why he is growling, unless he just wanting to be left alone from being sore. He would need to be seen if there is vomiting, hives, swelling, or trouble breathing. Good luck

It could be that Starla may have a mild fever, which can be a common side effect after receiving vaccines. She may have some pain or discomfort as well at the site of the injections. These side effects should clear up in a day or two, but I would monitor her breathing for now. Should she experience difficulty breathing, this is not normal, and you will have to take her into the vet immediately.
