My dog's face swelling dropped to neck after sting. Is it normal?

You can try a warm compress every 6-8 hours to see if that helps the swelling decrease. It may be from an insect sting or bite. If it doesn't resolve in a couple of days or gets worse I recommend taking Maisy to the vet to make sure something more serious isn't causing the swelling.

Hi, the edema should gradually go down within a week -ten days. If Emma is not scratching the area anymore, you could just massage it this will help with fluid being rebasorbed, she could also benefit from oral antinflammatories to help with the fluid build up and inflammation. Hope this helps !

A sudden swollen face is usuaally caused by some allergy, either an insect bite or an environmental allergy, or could also be a rattle snake bite. Check for oozing little wounds, there would be a little blood oozing but not coagulating. If you find those on the head, your dog likely was bitten by a snake and needs to be seen by a vet right away. If your dog has breathing problems, vomits or is lethargic, he should also be seen by a veterinarian right away. If he is happy, eats and drinks, you can observe the swelling and it should go down within 24 hours. Of course you can also take him to the vet if he is not in distress. The vet will give him an exam and likely an antihistamine and/or steroid injection.

Gravity can pull the fluids to different areas. They can shift after he has been laying down or sleeping as well. They should absorb naturally over the next 24 hours. Hello. A mass as you are describing could be from a bug bite, and if so the swelling should go away in about 48 hours. If the swelling continues past that time then I would be worried about an abscess/cyst/tumor. If it isn't painful or bothering her, and it continues to get smaller then you can monitor it, however if it doesn't go away, gets bigger, gets hard, or becomes painful, then I would recommend you have it seen and tested with a "Fine needle aspirate". Poor Baldric! This swelling could be due to trauma, it could be a lymph node swelling due to a localized infection or tooth problem, a reaction to an insect bite, or it could be an abcess. Given the absence of any additional signs, I would monitor Baldric for now. Should the swelling still be present in the morning, I. Would take him into the vet. If he shows up additional signs tonight such as difficulty breathing, difficulty swallowing, extreme lethargy, or anorexia, then I would take him into a vet right away.

It is a possibility that the tightness of both the collar and cone caused the swelling. I'd keep a close eye on the swelling, and if it gets bigger over the next 24 hours, doesn't go down over the next 48-72 hours, or Max has trouble breathing, take him back into the vet immediately. Best of luck.
