My dog has a face rash that isn't painful. What should I do?

Poor Jupiter! This rash could be caused by a contact allergy or a skin infection. She should see a vet for it, as the cause of it needs to be diagnosed in order for it to be treated properly. I would have Jupiter seen by a vet tomorrow for this rash. Tonight, you can try giving her an Epsom salt bath as that may give her some temporary relief. to keep her from licking at it, I would put an Ecollar on her as well. How serious this is depends on what is causing the possible allergic reaction and how it progresses. If this is confirmed on an examination, this is usually treated with anti-histamine medications and corticosteroids and usually responds well to therapy. This can be caused by bacterial or fungal infections as well as allergic reactions. Unfortunately, some fungal infections such as ringworm can come from soil and be transmitted to people. I recommend having Brooke seen by a vet as soon as possible - she may need antibiotics to resolve the infection and itching. I hope this helps and that all is well!

This looks like local irritation or infection. You would need to have Belle physically examined by your veterinarian, though, for confirmation. In the meantime, keep the area clean and dry. You can use pet wipes or plain, unscented baby wipes to gently clean the area. Dry thoroughly afterwards. A small amount of plain cornstarch will work to keep the folds in her skin dry. An e-collar (cone) should be used to prevent further licking. This, along with cleaning, may be enough to allow healing, but if not then Belle will need to be seen by your vet. Monitor for lethargy, excessive urination, difficulty urinating or spread of the rash.

Those spots on Bella could be several things including allergies, skin mites, flea bites, ringworm (which humans can get) or a bacterial infection. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. The best option is to have Bella examined since the rash is bothering her. This will figure out the cause the fastest and bring her relief sooner. If you cannot get to the veterinarian's office, you can wash the lesions with soap once a day and rinse well (don't wash her whole body, just those spots). Protect the areas from licking or scratching with an elizabethan collar. If they don't start looking better within about a week or if they get worse, have her examined by his veterinarian who may prescribe medications. That looks quite uncomfortable. I'm surprised that she isn't super itchy. I don't see any obvious causes in the picture - such areas that make me suspicious of a bacterial or yeast infection. My top guesses be allergies (flea, food, environment, or even a contact allergy such as being allergic to your laundry detergent), with skin parasites or a superficial infection definitely possible. Since it's such a large area, it's going to be hard to apply an ointment - if you have a medicated bath for another dog (one that is for superficial infections) that may help. Wiping the area with witch hazel could calm in down. A mild (1%) hydrocortisone cream could also calm down the area. I would definitely recommend getting her to the vet as soon as possible. They are likely to need to do an exam saying she's in good health before she can be added to the insurance, and she's not going to qualify until her skin is better.
