My dog's eye is droopy with discharge and a clear film. What's wrong?

The film you are referring to may be Andy's third eyelid. In which case it is possible that he scratched or injured his eye- especially if he was normal this morning. Since these can be very painful and I would recommend taking him in and having his eye examined and possibly 'stained'- a test to rule out scratches. I hope this helps!

I recommend to have her examined tonight. The squinting could be due to pain but it could also be due to scratch or abrasion on the cornea which is very painful and can get worse quickly. I'm not sure what the 'film' is since I can't see it but it sounds concerning as well. Best to play it safe with Belle. Excessive tearing of the eyes can be due to a number of things, including spring allergies (dust, grasses, pollens), eye irritants, or eye injuries/infections (these usually come with green, yellow, or cloudy discharge, rather than clear mucus). If you suspect allergies or irritation, you can try an over the counter medication such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine) to see if it helps reduce symptoms. However, if the eye discharge continues, worsens, becomes bothersome to Bella, or becomes cloudy or discolored, it's best to have your vet take a look in person. I would also stop the eye washes for a while and just gently clean any debris or mucus away with a warm, clean washcloth to see if that helps reduce irritation and tear production as the washes may just be exacerbating the issue.

The sensitivity to light is a sign of pain. I wiukd first be worried about an ulcer on the cornea. This can cause pain and a discharge and easy to test for. Glaucoma can have a big eye and a red eye, not usually squinting. An eye infection can also cause these issues along with a dry eye. Your vet can check the tear production and look for an ulcer as each one has medicine that can correct this

Moo is adorable, but his eyes certainly seem uncomfortable given his squinting! Squinting is a sign of eye pain in dogs. Coupled with the yellow/green discharge, it is concerning that he may have an eye infection, corneal ulcer or uveitis (inflammation within the eyes). Allergies may be contributing, but the yellow/green discharge makes me suspicious that there is another issue present.
