My dog's eyes are injured, red, and foggy from fighting. What to do?

Eyes are very delicate organs. If there is an injury it is always best to have your vet check it. Eye injuries can go from bad to worse quickly and then you risk losing vision and/or the eye itself. I have not seen the eye so it's hard to give advice. It is up to you though what you want to do. If you want to try something at home you can try this eye gel. Poor Fiona! Monitor the eye twice daily. If it gets redder, you see discharge coming from it, she's rubbing at her eye, or the eye appears cloudy in appearance, you need to take her into a vet immediately. Cleanse the wound with warm water or saline solution. You can either flush the wound (being careful to avoid the eye) or wipe the cut with a moistened gauze pad. Pat dry. Apply a thin film of a triple antibiotic ointment (such as Neosporin) twice daily. Monitor the wound for swelling, redness, or discharge. If you notice these signs, then you will need to have the wound looked at by your veterinarian. Most importantly, make sure your dog's rabies vaccination is up-to-date. Until the wound is healed, no more play dates. I am not familiar with Leucillin but as long as it is safe for the eyes, you can apply the ointment for the next 1- 2 days then stop. I agree that Semper needs to be examined today. Since he is aggressive, he needs to be sedated to be safely examined. No one wants to be injured. I recommend to call another vet and tell them Semper bites and that he needs to be sedated for an exam and treatment. You may need to go to an emergency clinic for treatment as they are better staffed and can handle a same day sedation in general. Eye injuries typically need medications and an elizabethan collar.

Hello. If there is no squinting or discharge, then he is probably OK to just observe the eye tonight. You do not want to put anything in the eye. If the redness is worse in the morning, or there is any change to the cornea, then please see your vet in the morning.
