My dog has green eye discharge, facial growths, and bad breath. Help!

At least in these pictures, his cornea appears affected. I highly recommend that you have him evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Green discharge from the eyes usually means infection so she will likely need antibiotics to get this to clear up. In the meantime you can use this over the counter eye flush to help. If you are seeing green eye discharge in Chacha's eyes, this could indicate there is a problem such as dry eye, which should be diagnosed / treated by a veterinarian. There is specific treatment for dry eye that you will not find over the counter (Optimmune ointment or Tacrolimus ointment) which helps stimulate tear production. The over the counter products simply lubricate the eyes and do not last long enough. You can try an over the counter dry eye medication for dogs such as OPTIXCARE, which you can find online. The sooner you have this looked at the better as dry eye can lead to eye trauma from the lack of lubrication from the tears.

Dry eye can result in the discharge in the picture you posted and can require more than just Artificial Tears to treat. (That would be more common than an allergy problem especially since only one eye is affected.) Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. This looks like a serious infection of the skin due to the matting of the eye discharge under the eye. Honestly, he will probably need oral antibiotics to clear this up so I really recommend you take him to a vet for an exam. Especially if the discharge from the eye has increased. In the meantime while waiting for an appointment you can use this eye gel in the eye AND on that raw spot, 3 - 4 times per day. You must be extremely careful with what type of products you use around the eye and many human eye medications are not appropriate to use in animals. I recommend that you have them evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hi there, It is possible that Jackson has an eye infection. I also worry about older Shih Tzu's developing dry eye, or keratoconjunctivitis sicca. This causes redness and green discharge from the eye. It does require life long eye medications. The redness in the eye and the squinting is a sign of pain. I think this likely has nothing to do with his collapsing trachea or bronchitis, but I suppose a seasonal allergy component is possible here if his eyes are truly infected and it's not dry eye. I would recommend getting Jackson to a vet sometime in the next two days, and going to a different vet clinic if that's what you need to do to have him seen and his eye pain controlled.
