Why is my dog's eye cloudy and swollen after a pool fall?

Poor Dingo ! These eye injuries are very painful ! It is advisable that you have him checked over, if nothing serious happened to the eye, he will likely need some pain relief over the next couple of days.

I am sorry to hear about your dog. I would recommend taking him in to the vet as soon as possible, including the emergency vet if your vet isn't open. This could be corneal edema or a corneal ulceration. We could also possibly have trauma within the eye that we cannot see due to the cloudiness of the cornea, such as bleeding of retinal vessels or trauma to the optic nerve and the earlier the eye is treated the better the chance of healing and preserving vision.

Poor Pickles! It's difficult to tell from the photo, but from what I can see (and your description), I'm very concerned that he may have a serious injury to his eye. The cloudy blue color is caused by corneal edema, which often occurs when the eye is scratched or ulcerated. I'm afraid this is a rather serious problem that really can't wait, so I would recommend taking Pickles to an emergency vet today to have his eye examined. He will need prescription eye drops at the vet least, and maybe even surgery depending on the extent of the problem. Eye injuries like this can lead to permanent damage and vision loss without prompt treatment, so I wouldn't recommend waiting any longer at home.

Poor girl. Because she is keeping her eye closed, it is very likely she has a scratch or ulcer on her cornea (eye surface). Because of this type of injury, Suziee Lu will need to see your vet to have the eye checked. If there is a scratch, as suspected, then she will need topical prescription eye medication to get this to heal properly. It is ok to wipe the outside of the lid with warm salt water until you can get her in to your vet for further care. It's impossible to tell you what is going on with Daisy, but the most common cause of a dog squinting and rubbing their eye is a corneal ulceration. Corneal ulcers are often relatively easy to heal, but become worse the longer it is before they are treated, so I would recommend having Daisy evaluated by your vet ASAP. This is an emergency, your vet should see you right away, if he refuses you have to take him to another vet that will see him today. cloudiness of the eye is a very serious symptom, there are several eye condition that could cause that but it is important to start the treatment urgently, otherwise permanent eye damage could occur.

The film you are referring to may be Andy's third eyelid. In which case it is possible that he scratched or injured his eye- especially if he was normal this morning. Since these can be very painful and I would recommend taking him in and having his eye examined and possibly 'stained'- a test to rule out scratches. I hope this helps!
