My dog's eye is cloudy and red after the sitter. Is it serious?

It appears that she has an eye infection, and yes you should take her into the vet. Any eye problem needs to be checked out by a vet promptly as leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Oh goodness! Poor Paris! Sadly Paris needs to see a Vet for her eye. A painful red eye needs immediate Veterinary care. Possible causes are: a corneal ulcer, infection, allergies, trauma, inflammation or glaucoma. There are specific medications that are safe for the eye and she needs a diagnosis first. Changes like you are describing in the eyes can have a variety of causes, including glaucoma (increased eye pressure), an infection, a scratch on the eye, or another underlying issue. As eye issues can progress quickly and cause irreversible damage if not properly addressed, I would recommend Linus be evaluated by his regular veterinarian, have any necessary testing done (eye stain, tear production, pressure check) and start any treatment if needed. Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I can’t say for sure from the pictures but it looks like there may be a defect on her cornea. I would stop the medication and get her back to the vet in the morning so they can stain the eye to look for a new problem. If it’s not a problem with the cornea, they need to check tear production (even if her eye is watering) and check the pressure of the globe. It's not possible to know what's causing this without doing a full eye exam, but I'm suspicious of an eye infection, or conjunctivitis. I can't see the grey dots, but this is likely due to some degree of damage to the outside of the eye. Conjunctivitis can be caused by a few different infections, or dust and debris in the eye. This appears to be moderate to severe case, so I recommend taking Moxie to the vet sometime in the next 24 hours. They will be able to better inspect the eye and provide the most appropriate treatment. For now, you can flush the eye 3-4 times a day with saline (can get this at the supermarket or pharmacy in the eye care section) to help clean and soothe it.
