My dog's eye is cloudy, milky, itchy, and has mucus. What's wrong?

It could be that Hershey has a severe eye infection or could have suffered trauma to the eye. The eye is such a delicate and important structure that any problem with it should be considered an emergency and should never be treated at home. That's because leaving it untreated or attempting home treatment could go very wrong and lead to vision loss. I would take Hershey into the vet immediately. The vet can determine what is causing the eye problems, will let you know if it can be cured, and can prescribe treatment for it.

Poor Issy! From your description, I would be most concerned that Issy has developed a corneal ulcer that caused her eye discharge and eye rubbing/scratching. The cloudy area on the eye could be the area of ulceration. At this point, the best thing you can do for Issy is to take her back to the vet for further evaluation because corneal ulcers can progress fairly rapidly. Be sure to keep her e-collar (cone/hood) on until her vet appointment to prevent her from rubbing or scratching the eye further. I hope that all goes well!

Poor Scooby! He could have severe allergies, an eye infection, or may have something in his eyes. He could damage his eyes badly by scratching them, and he needs to see a vet as soon as possible for this issue. Leaving this untreated can lead to vision loss if he scratches his eye badly enough. Sometimes, when dog's have an eye infection, it can be secondary to trauma to the surface of the eye called the cornea. In this case, we can get a scratch on the cornea, and over time, if not treated appropriately, it may turn into a large corneal ulcer. The ulcer can make the eye look cloudy. Sometimes it can be after it heals, or sometimes it can happen if the ulcer is very deep. In this case, Calibur would need to go to a veterinarian so they can check for an ulcer, and then get some antibiotic ointment or drops to apply. Another condition german shepherds can develop in the eyes is called, pannus. This is an autoimmune disease, and although we are unsure of the direct cause, it is controlled by daily eye medications. There are several other eye issues that I can think of, but these are the two most common that I see in a dog of Calibur's age and breed. Again, I would make an appointment for her to see her veterinarian as soon as you can so they can check her eyes and get her on an appropriate treatment plan for her condition. It's very concerning this just happened overnight, and any problem with the eye should be considered an emergency. That's because leaving it untreated can lead to vision loss. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. It's not possible to know what's causing this without doing a full eye exam, but I'm suspicious of an eye infection, or conjunctivitis. I can't see the grey dots, but this is likely due to some degree of damage to the outside of the eye. Conjunctivitis can be caused by a few different infections, or dust and debris in the eye. This appears to be moderate to severe case, so I recommend taking Moxie to the vet sometime in the next 24 hours. They will be able to better inspect the eye and provide the most appropriate treatment. For now, you can flush the eye 3-4 times a day with saline (can get this at the supermarket or pharmacy in the eye care section) to help clean and soothe it. I would strongly recommend getting him seen by the vet as soon as possible, as there is a risk of perforation of the eye if this is due to glaucoma. The vet can check the pressures inside the eye, and prescribe medications to help reduce pressure or inflammation. In the meantime, ensure that Monty does not scratch or rub his eye as it is very sensitive and may be prone to being perforated. An e-collar (cone) may help with this purpose.
