My dog eats snow and won't potty outside during his first snowfall.

Hi there and thank you for using PetCoach! Sounds like he is having quite fun in the snow! You can try using pee pads in the house or using a product called Fresh Patch ( www.freshpatch.com ). More frequent walks outside may also help stop this inappropriate urination and then rewarding him when he does urinate outside every time will help reinforce him going outside. I think Bria will eventually go out or use a pee pad when she really has to urinate, but she might hold it for awhile. You might want to try digging out a small area where she can be outside and coaxing her out with a favorite treat. Good luck!

My guess is that he is just having more than normal water intake from eating the snow. Basically, his bladder is filling up faster than normal and he has to pee more now. This means he will need more potty breaks. If the accidents continue after the snow if gone, then I would be more concerned about a bladder infection as a potential cause. I hope that helps and all is well with Tank.

It sounds like Gizmo is being stubborn and doesn't want to poop in the snow! I would try clearing off a patch of your yard so that he has a clean space to go poop. You can also give him a tablespoon of canned pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling) with his food to try to get him to poop. If he still isn't pooping in another 24 hours, then you need to take him into the vet.

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! This is likely just him needing to get used to going out to defecate with someone else. I would recommend that when he is taken outside by that person, that they give him a longer time to go potty while he gets used to them. This should get better on its own. Best of luck!

Hi, thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! Poor Bear! He is probably uncomfortable if he keeps getting up and rearranging himself. With the vomiting it makes me think his belly hurts and he is nauseous and that is why he can't rest comfortably or eat. Possible causes of vomiting, not eating and an uncomfortable belly are: pancreatitis, a foreign body that is stuck, inflammation of the stomach or intestines from viral or bacterial infections or from eating something that doesn't agree with him. I recommend that you take Bear to your Vet as soon as you can. Based on their physical exam they may want to do blood work and X-rays of his belly. Based on the results they will know how best to get him better! I hope this helps and good luck!

You should keep a close eye on him to ensure he doesn’t vomit again. If Bear continues to vomit, develops diarrhea or is not acting quite like himself, he should be seen by his vet as he may require medication and supportive care. In the meantime, I would hold off on giving Bear any food for about 12 hours and then reintroduce his normal diet slowly (about 1/2 his normal serving) I hope this helps and am happy to answer any other questions you may have!
