Why does my dog eat everything and throw up? What should I do?

Poor Dexter! The vomiting and diarrhea could be due to many conditions including eating something he shouldn’t have, bacterial over growth, parasites or even an intestinal blockage. If the diarrhea has continued beyond 24 hours, I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian. If he has not eaten well for the past 24 hours, I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian. With continued diarrhea, there are often bacterial shifts in the gut that will make matters worse regardless of the initial cause. Make sure to bring in a sample of fresh stool. The doctor will check him for parasites and bacterial over growth. Puppies generally have a big appetite so when they aren't eating well, it's concerning for a more serious cause of illness. Some times a bland diet can help and then a slow, gradual introduction to the normal food can be done. A bland diet can consist of 25% boiled white meat chicken and 75% boiled white rice. It sounds as Dexter is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

If this has occurred more than once or twice Diego should see a veterinarian. If he is still hungry but unable to keep food down he may have an esophageal disorder or GI blockage. You can try fasting him for 4-6 hours after the last time he threw up and offer just a very small amount of food. If he keeps that down, wait a couple of hours then offer a little more. But if the food is still coming back up he should see a vet to determine the cause.

Paper towels are usually digestable depending on the size of the dog and the number ingested. I would recommend continuing to monitor Dexter for any progression or worsening of the vomiting. You could offer Dexter a bland diet to help ease the potential discomfort in his GI tract. If Dexter becomes inappetant, continues to vomit, or develops diarrhea I would recommend having him seen by your veterinarian. Dutchess could vomit due to many conditions including dietary intolerance, bacterial over growth, parasites (including worms and giardia) or even something more sinister. If she has not been checked for worms or giardia within the last 2 months, I recommend to have this done by the veterinarian. A good diet in general is Royal Canin. It is low residue and highly digestible. They do make a sensitive stomach formula which may help. If it does not, you may consider a food trial with a hydrolyzed protein diet. You may also consider having Dutchess spayed. This will help to calm her down somewhat but it will not alter her bouncy personality. I am very sorry to hear that Maggie is experiencing these problems, There are a number of potential causes of such clinical signs, including pancreatistis, parasite infestation, infection, and ingestion of a toxin or poison, or even an gastrointestinal obstruction. It is also possible that Maggie is simply eating too much too fast. If the episodes continue over a 48 hour period, Maggie seems dull or depressed, in pain, ha sprifuse diarrhoea or vomiting, I would take her straight tot wh vet. Your vet will be able to perform a physical exam and run diagnostic tests such as bloodwork to determine the cause of Maggie's vomiting. In the meantime you can continue to monuitir her at home. Rest her stomach for a few hours. Then try smaller meals three times a day. Try a bland diet of boiled chicken breast and white rice for a few days and provide plenty of fresh water.
