My dog keeps throwing up. What's the cause and what should I do?

My dog woke up throwing up today at four am and so far she just threw for the 3 time today but I’m not sure why .

Vomiting could be caused by a number of things, including parasites, diet changes, toxin ingestion, infectious viral diseases, blockage in the intestines caused by ingestion of a foreign body, food sensitivity/allergy, decreased pancreatic function, or a mass/growth in the gastrointestinal tract. Please have your dog seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to allow for diagnosis and treatment. If your dog could have eaten anything such as medications, household cleaners, plants, toys, food scraps, or garbage, please let the vet know about it to help them determine if there could be a toxicity. Hi there! Sorry to hear that Mela is not feeling well. The clinical signs you describe are concerning for possible dietary indiscretion, pancreatitis, gastrointestinal foreign body obstruction, among other possibilities. The sooner these conditions are treated the better the outcome tends to be. For this reason, I recommend that you have Mela evaluated by your veterinarian to check for these possibilities and to start therapy based on findings. At the very least they can address dehydration if present and start her on anti-nausea medications. Good luck! Keeping my fingers crossed for your girl!

Persistent vomiting is a very concerning condition and needs to be seen by a veterinarian today. The causes for this could be a gastrointestinal problem but also an intestinal foreign body causing a blockage. Persistent vomiting also causes metabolic problems. Please take Blu to your vet now.

It sounds as Tuttu is suffering from a gastrointestinal condition, possibly an infection. it could also be due to ingestion of a foreign body material. i would recommend taking him to the vet the first chance you get, he will need to be checked first, if the vet thinks it's a simple gastrointestinal infection he will need an anti vomiting injection, antibiotics and a special food for a few days in order to get better.

If this does not clear up the vomiting or if the vomiting increases, or if your dog gets lethargic, she needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on

Why is my dog throwing up bile and food after eating? What to do?

Poor Louis! There are many causes for continued vomiting. Certainly parasites like worms and giardia can cause frequent vomiting. Bacterial over growth is also common in younger dogs. Food allergies or intolerance are possible at his age. Lastly a more serious cause can include a partial intestinal obstruction. I recommend to have Louis visit his veterinarian for a physical exam and to rule out some of the more common causes. Treatment will depend on the cause and may include medications or a special diet. Vomit is a symtoms usually referred to a problem located in the gastrointestinal system. It can be secondary to a dietary indiscretion, an ingestion of something that Minxy picked up during her walks. It could be caused by a stomach inflammation (gastritis) or if she is having soft feaces as well can be an upset of the whole gastrointestinal system. Vomit can also be a secondary to systemic diseases (i.e. renal failure). Monitor Minxy, if she continues to vomit or start having diarrhea being inappetent or showing any other symptom I recommend a consultation with your veterinarian for a full health check. If the vomiting hasn’t improved on a bland diet, I would recommend Puchiwilly be evaluated by a veterinarian to determine the underlying cause for his vomiting, have any necessary testing done (X-rays, bloodwork), and start any treatment that he may need to resolve the issue. Vomiting can be caused by intestinal parasites, intestinal blockage, pancreatitis, dietary indiscretion, parvovirus if not fully vaccinated, among other things. Because you've given Nacho a bland diet for a day and he is still vomiting, I recommend you get him in to your veterinarian when they are open. The vet will be able to perform bloodwork and X-rays and figure out why Nacho is vomiting.

Why does my dog keep throwing up hours after eating for weeks?

Hi, sorry to hear your dog is having this problem. I would recommend an ultrasound to make sure he does not have Inflammatory bowel disorder or a foreign body that does not show up on x ray. Some foreign objects can migrate throughout the GI tract so they can sometimes cause problems and sometimes be fine. An infection would not cause this problem. The anti vomiting injection only lasts 24 hours so if he did not vomit on that, you can try oral tablet of it. But if he did vomit through the injection, it is more likely he has a foreign body. If your vet cannot do an abdominal ultrasound, I would go to a specialist who has an ultrasound and is good at them to find out what is wrong Good luck, I hope this helps!
