Why does my dog eat cat poop? Is it a diet deficiency or health issue?

It could be Luella Rose is suffering from a nutritional deficiency, she could have intestinal worms, or it may be she simply likes the taste. Make sure you are feeding her a high quality dog food like Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, or Iams. Also make sure her deworming treatments are up to date. Dogs eat cat poop because it tastes good to them. It sounds really gross, but it's quite common. My own dog tries to treat the litter box like a buffet, and we have to keep him out of the room where we have the litter boxes to keep him from eating it. I am very concerned that Bandit is pooping and puking blood every time he eats wet food. That is not normal at all, and both vomiting and passing blood in the feces is quite serious. It could be that the wet food is really upsetting his stomach. I would completely avoid feeding him wet food if this is his reaction each time he eats it. I would also have him seen by a vet for this, a health check would be a really good idea. While there, you can discuss with the vet increasing the amount of dry food you feed Bandit daily.

Many dogs will do this and generally there is no underlying health condition. As long as you are feeding a commercial dog food, it is fortified with the nutrients Spaiky needs.
